Well, it depends on your voice. If your musical ear is already okay, have a sense of pitch, hit the right notes mostly all the time, it will take less time, so less lessons.
But, if you are the opposite of what I have said above, it will take longer for sure.
I can't tell you how many lessons you need because I don't know how well/not so well you sing.
I suggest you to post a video/audio of you singing a song and let people decide if you got any potential.

It really depends on how much work your voice needs. For pretty cheap you can buy a download with a complete set of singing exercises and instruction here: http://www.galtmusic.com/lessons/products.html
It would be a good idea to start with something like that first and then take lessons after working with that for a while. That way you won't be paying for a voice coach just to get your voice into shape but instead to perfect your technique.
