I'm 16, and I just tested my vocal range. Not warmed up, I have 3 octaves, from B2 to B5. When warmed up, I can get about 3 and 1/2. What does that mean, part wise? How many octaves do people in general have?

Untrained voices usually have one and one-half octaves, often less. Having a three-octave range means that you have an exceptional wide vocal range. I have a vocal range of almost three octaves, however, the music that I sing seldom requires more than two usable octaves.

A normal person has about 1,5 octaves range. However this may differ depending on where you live and such.

In Italy people use their speaking voice in a much higher and lower range than in most other countries. They express themselves through high and low notes so it isn't weird if an untrained italian would have 2,5 octaves range.

In conclusion the normal amount is 1,5 octaves range but it differs depending on which range you use when speaking.
