I'm also a soprano and for musical theater, the best songs are in The Singer's Musical Theater Anthology. There are 4 volumes for Sopranos now, about $20 a pop, with TONS of songs in them. They have the best of the best from the stage and are a real deal as well as super fun. I have the first two volumes and I absolutely adore them.

For opera, a fun song is "The Black Swan" from Gian Carlo Menotti's "The Medium." It's creepy and scary, but a great song :) Another great book to invest in would be 28 Italian Arias. This is also about $20, and it has all the best arias from Italy (with the exception of O Mio Babbino Caro, which I also suggest for opera).

Hope this helps :) Happy Singing!!!

What kind of soprano are you? I would definitely look at the Aria for Sopranos anthology edited by Robert Larsen. You should also own the various First Book of Soprano Solos volumes to get you started!
