I believe there is no such thing as "God-given" talent. I don't believe that God gives preferential treatment one human over the other. All talent like singing is a discipline that is nurtured and must be learned. Rare talent like singing has to be learned from small age otherwise you won't make it. A lot of talent like dancing or drawing can be learned even at adult age. What are your thoughts?

God gave EVERYBODY the ability to change the pitch of their voice to set frequencies in various patterns. that is the mechanics of singing. whether we grow to appriciate that talent enough to commit to hard work perfecting it is our choice. "God given" applies to everything we are, not an adjective to set some above the rest.

in terms of vocal quality, that is purely the luck of the gene pool. each voice is unique and some are better suited for various styles of performance.

in terms of technique, that is a skill that can be learned.

what separates the good from the great is the PASSION.

not to be confused with ambition.

i mean people who love music for the sake of music, the art form, not the 15 year old kid who wabts to be the next kelly Clarkson and thinks they will win purely because they believe.

the best artists and vocalists are the ones that want to advance the art, not just make a quick buck. to leave an influence on an artform and craft stretching to the dawn of time.

Bob Dylan doesnt have the best voice, but his talent for lyrics, understanding how music works and simple love of sharing his ability with others is what made him great.

The source of that passion is anybodys guess. some say God, some say upbringing, but regardless, you could understand everything there is to know about singing, have all the technique in the world, but if you dont care about the music, it comes acros in your performances as dry, emotionless, and dead.

Your not believing changes nothing. First you have to be able to believe,

then all else is revealed to you. We are more than flesh and blood ! We are also spirit filled beings with a mind and, an ability to create.

look around you and find me one other creature like us , Notice there's none! then you have to admit to preferentiality where we are concerned.

To answer your question, Yes there's such a thing as God Given Talent.

I believe you can have God-given talent because everyone has something they're good at. I'm good at singing and some people aren't. I have a God-given talent. God doesn't design everyone the same. Some suck at singing, some rock! It just depends on how He wants ur future. Michael Phelps has God-given talent. His body is designed for a swimmer. He has a wide arm-spand, "flipper shaped feet" and paddle shaped hands! He has God-given talent to be a swimmer! Get it?

I don't believe that god intervenes like that. But I do believe that some people have genetic makeup which is more able to produce musical talent than others. You're either born with a voice that sounds pleasing to the ear or not; you can take lessons and learn the right technique, but trust me when I say that technique alone is not enough. Same goes with dancing; yes, you can learn how to do some dance steps, but can everyone learn to dance the lead role in "Giselle"? Hell no. Yes, you can take a drawing class and learn to do portraits or still-life, but are you likely to come out with talent akin to that of Rembrandt? Definitely not.

A lot of it has to do with training, but a lot has to do with your genetic makeup.

What about Mozart ?, playing piano when he was a children, after just hearing her sister playing it. What about Carl Friedrich Gauss, Gauss summed the integers from 1 to 100 instantly when in elementary school.
