A person's speaking voice---good or bad---is not an indicator that they are a good singer.
An example of somebody's nasal speaking voice is actor Jim Nabors of the TV comedy "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C." However, Mister Nabors' singing voice is totally different: a very rich-sounding baritone as in the following audio clip:
