Do artists like Taylor swift and others like John mayor and Jason Meaz. who are I known for being solo artists write all parts for their songs (like all instruments)? I know people like bob Dylan do. I'm basically asking, because I'm curious about the process, collaboration, and independence of the artist.

They write a little but mainly they have writers who do the lyrics as Taylor swift never wrote her songs she has a writer helping her they write it together but he input is minimal but then sings it fantastically leaving the original writer in the dark

Some collaborate with known lyricists or musicians. Others have the music knowledge and do both lyrics and music. Some also have a music director who will write the parts for the muso's and who will also mix the layers of each instrument.....the different ways are endless. But Singer/songwriters with knowledge in Music and Lyric writing have the independence to write as they think. Many singers can write the song - sing it - play it with an instrument, then use a Music Director or their band to fill out the sound, there is no wrong way but it can mean sharing the profits..

usually another person writes the songs and the producer makes the singers use them. But when a singer get a lot of money, they might try writing music with a band.

Most of the time, pop singers do not write their own music.

They may help every once in a while but they usually have songwriters helping them.

I know most rock bands write their own songs, for instance Paramore write all of their own music and lyrics.

Almost all metal bands do the job on their own. But pop singers usually don't write their lyrics.
