There's a piece of software called "Audacity." It's free! You can get it at the link below.



You can import a piece of music, and, if you're lucky, you might be able to remove the vocal track. According to the program's documentation, if the music is recorded with the vocal track mixed equally between the left and right channels (which is typical for a solo vocal, but perhaps not for an ensemble), you can often subtract the left channel from the right channel (Audacity has the software to be able to do this). The equally mixed vocals will basically disappear, while the instrumentals (which are mixed to either left or right channel) will just get all jumbled together. Your result will be a mono (not stereo) mix suitable for karaoke performance.



This is about the best you can do without buying specific karaoke tracks.
