Hi, I'm 16 years old (male), untrained, I really want to take lessons but I cannot afford them, but I have show choir for two years now, and last year the director put me as tenor (there were two tenors and 3 basses), but this year she put me as a bass at first, but when actually got to a song that had a bass part (most of it is just baritone) I couldn't sing it.. so then she moved me to tenor, which I could actually sing. And I sing Tenor II when possible which is really comfortable. But I don't think she she thinks I'm a very good singer and I kind of agree.
And my range is B2-A4, but I don't think I have very good pitch so I could be wrong, and that last note can be really hard to get to. And for some reason that I don't understand why, I really want to be a tenor, oppose to being a baritone

Here's a video of me singing, so you can hear my timbre (is that the right word?)

Well, you should know you're 16. Your voice hasn't fully matured. As you age, your voice naturally darkens. So, you technically never have a definite fach but the voice type could be definitely apparent. So, from what I can tell, there's no way in HELL you're a Baritone lol You have a very steely timbre, which is very intrinsic to the Tenor family. You do possess some moderate weight, which is good. It gives your voice depth. However, your voice in that song as well as Let The Chaos Flow, proved that your voice BLOOMS as it ascends, which is another intrinsic characteristic of the Tenor. You sound like a Lyric Tenor.

You couldn't be a Baritone because you lack the Baritone tessitura and your timbre isn't dark enough. Far too bright. Bartiones generally have an innate ability to reach AT LEAST Ab2 of the regular A Natural, untrained. You, unlike MANY tenors, are unable to do so. You're definitely a Tenor. As for which type of Tenor? You're a Lyric Tenor.

And YES, timbre is a word lol And for an original song, not bad. Actually, excellent if you ask me.

PS, Baritones are awesome & have much stronger voices than Tenors. So don't be afraid lol Baritones can reach the high notes too xD

Why bother even asking if your just gonna dislike every answer that says Baritone.

I mean for **** sake most Tenors sing in a baritone range anyway and vice versa, I makes no difference.
