why is it when people who are bad a singing hear themselves as good?

and i mean as they are singing not when they hear a recording, cause i know i cant sing but when i do i can hear myself in my own head as quite good, why is this?

Its because when you sing your voice is inside you. When it is heard outside you there are extra sounds and that you can't hear when you sing. These extra out of tune sounds that wouldn't be there if you were a good singer are the noises that make your singing sound bad.

I think it's because the deeper vibrations you hear in your voice(as opposed to what other people hear or a recording of yourself) is something you're more used to, and the undertone makes it sound fuller. You might not be bad, it's just not a sound you're used to. Practice more recording yourself and it'll help. ^^

Because the vibrations move through your head to your ears, you get different overtones.
