One of the most important aspects of singing well involves correct breathing. Now you would think that we would already do this correctly. Try a site like https://tr.im/P2AVD which has the best vocal exercises

After all if we couldn't breathe we wouldn't be alive! But in reality many people have bad breathing habits caused by a variety of things including poor posture and our often frantic lifestyles. Learning how to control your breathing is one of the keys to improving your voice.

Singing requires that you are able to take in enough air quickly before you are about to sing a line and then let this air out in a regular and controlled way whilst singing the notes. The mistake many novice singers do is to take a quick shallow gasp of air into the top of the lungs. This results in there being insufficient air, to get you through the line you are singing, and you will end up dropping notes. I'm sure you can relate to this experience and can remember times when you have had to quickly take in more air half way through the line or note you are singing.

You say you are starting to learn to sing. Tell me, are you learning under the guidance of an actual voice teacher, or are you trying to "teach yourself" by looking at random Youtube videos and trying to get advice on what songs to practice from people who have no idea what your voice is like or what your singing level is at the present.

There are some "beginners" that sing beautifully without having had any lessons at all. Other beginners are struggling to sing a simple scale and stay in tune. We don't start at the same place and we don't end up at the same place either. Not every singer--no matter how experienced and skilled--can sing every single song out there.

Furthermore, you need to realize that you can't really learn to sing by learning specific songs. It teaches you nothing on HOW to sing. There are people who do karaoke and they can absolutely nail one or two songs (which they practiced over and over so they can copy the original singer note by note, riff by riff). However, give them something new (even if they actually know the song) and they can hardly stay in tune. When you take voice lessons (providing you get someone who is a real teacher who trained to teach voice), you learn certain techniques that can be applied over and over to different songs. Teachers will also assign you practice songs that will give you more interesting ways to apply your new techniques so you don't just have to do exercises over and over again.

Lessons also will teach you ways to keep your vocal cords healthy. It is very easy to damage them. Have you kept up with all the pop stars in the last few years that have had to cancel concerts and even have surgery because of vocal cord problems?

I don't even know what kind of music you like. Rap is easy. You don't have to sing at all if you can at least talk in rhythm.
